January 20 Julia Davis Park Meet

When: Sunday January 20, starts between 11am and 1pm
Rain is forecast for afternoon currently. I will try to be ready for early starts so you can stay dry.

Location: Meet center at Julia Davis Park, 700 S Capital Blvd. Enter park and park between the Rose Garden and the Zoo. Start and finish at the same location near the Agricultural Pavilion.
There is good cover at the pavilion.

FormatPark Motala/Sprint. Courses are a little shorter than I originally thought. Beginner course (~1.4km; 9 controls) stays mainly in Julia Davis Park. For intermediates and advanced orienteers, there are two loops, Loop 1 is ~2.3 km and 14 controls (favors) runners and Loop 2 is ~2.5 km and 15 controls (favors fast navigation). You may choose to do either loop or both.  There will be shared controls on the courses. There will be close controls on the courses so check control codes and avoid mis-punches. Do not assume other runners are running the same course as you. Courses are fast and fun! Lot's of goose poop underfoot.

We will be running rain, snow, or sunshine. This is a great venue and a quiet time of year to make the most of it. Come join us! Please let me know if you are bringing a large group so I can be sure to have enough maps (melaniecwrightATgmaildotcom)

I will be not be using electronic punching so no need for SI sticks.

Club members will be on hand for instruction/coaching if needed.

Cost:
  • Single meet (day) dues: $10 per person/team, free for members
  • Junior (up to 20 years old): $5 per person/team, free for members
  • If more than one map is needed for a team, it is +$1 per map.
  • $1 compass rental.
  • You may join CTOC for the full year which makes all local meets free!  We do plan for full roster with monthly meets next year. See member info.
